Sturts Dessert Pea (Swainsona Formosa) The floral emblem of South Australia. Captain Charles Sturt (1795-1869) Noted the occurrence of Swainsona Formosa in 1844 while exploring between Adelaide and Central Australia. The common name, Sturt's Dessert Pea, commemorates the notable explorer of inland Australia, as well as indicating the plant's habitat and family.

Golden Wattle (Acacia Pycnantha) The floral emblem of Australia. The specimen from which it was named was collected in 1836 in the interior of New South Wales by the surveyor-general of NSW, Thomas Mitchell.                                          Flowering Gum. Eucalypts or Gum Trees are the quintessential Australian tree - As much a part of the landscape as far horizons and sweeping plains. There are more than 900 species, All with colourful blooms provided by stamens, rather than petals. The fruits of these trees are known as gumnuts.

Waratah (Telopea Speciosissima) The floral emblem of New South Wales. Robert Brown (1773-1858) Named the genus Telopea in 1810 from specimens collected in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. The generic name Talopea is derived from the Greek 'Telopos', meaning 'Seen from afar' and refers to the great distance from which the crimson flowers are discernible. 'Waratah' is the Aboriginal name for the species and was adopted by early settlers at Port Jackson.

Kangaroo (Anigozanthos Mangleshii OR, Anigozanthos Flavidus) The Floral Emblem of Western Australia. There are twelve species of Kangaroo Paw. Their vibrant, almost iridescent colours are combined with a furry texture, created by the hairs that cover stems and flowers, which open at the apex with six petals. Thye flowers of the petals can vary depending on the temperature, with cooler days producing more intense shades.
